WWII German "Angel of Mercy"

Great story, thanks for posting it.

Rev Stan: I'm soooo glad you liked the story. Sometimes I will stumble across an article or picture that piques my curiosity, and then I just keep getting deeper into it (as far as one can for a Blog). I'm hunting down photos that are authentic to the story, and trying to explain the tale in a shortened version with enough detail. I *think* the last time I got pulled into a story, it was also about WWII and Germany....about Goermann's role in Hitler's inner circle. It was really quite interesting, and it took quite a long time to get all the photos and abridged story together. He was the highest ranking Nazi to stand trial at Nerumberg. I also became completely fascinated in another WWII story about the Lost Squadron and the Glacier Queen.....the squadron of B-17s and other planes that hand to land on a glacier because a storm had caught up to them and they couldn't make it back to England in time. The Glacier Queen was actually dug out of the ice a number of years ago (the whole squadron having moved quite a distance and weighted down under too much ice), but they got enough of her out....and she was rebuilt and now FLIES again. Incredible! But....I think I did that story on a friend's Blog. He didn't know how to operate VOX very well, and now he is gone....along with the story. Darn! It took them 5 years to rebuild her!

Anyways, yes....sometimes I leave the funnies behind and wander off in another direction. That's why it's an eclectic Blog.....you never know what you might find!

Have a great day. It's been sunny here all day....not one bit of snow that we got caught in on Friday night. Grrrr. All that suffering for nothing. Lol.

Lovely story. So nice to read of a bit of humanity in those terrible days. I'm glad they caught up.

That is a wonderful story! I'm glad the two found each other and that the German did show some compassion

(I've been doing too much databasing at work..especially concerning the Bf109E planes, lol)

What a wonderful story..thanks for posting!
Snowy: I love it when people respond to the more serious and human stories that I get to post from time to time. They take awhile to whittle down to a small enough size so that you don't feel as though you're reading a thesis, and then I have to hunt down the types of photos that I want to show with it. And I love the stories that settle in your heart. Did you ever read the story I have on the fireman and the doberman that he rescued from a house fire? It's somewhere in this Blog! Lol. So touching!!! Thanks for appreciating the stories as well as the funnies. *hugs*

he (Stigler) should have fired and tried to destroyed his enemies.
It was his duty as a soldier.
Christmas bells oh Christmas bells ringing through the land, bringing peace to all the world, and good will to man :)
Great story

A wider audience should hear of this, maybe the History Channel’s “Dogfight” producers will pick up on this great story and do an episode on it.
